Nope. Not in my view. As an Ascend customer I assert my right to listen to Matt as a human with an opinion, not a random sales droid who must spout the company draft. > I wasn't asking for respect. I was asking for common decency. It's the > adage "Common sense isn't." It's a simple matter to speak in one tone vs. > another. If you want people to buy your product, you don't tell them it's > a joke to compare to someone else. You should do your own research WRT products or you will be seen as laughable. Hence it is a joke to make some of the original comparisons you made. Let's take a "real world" example. I want to get from home to work using the road system. I need a car, and I discover that Ford do one for $15,000 but Ferrari do one for $150,000 (or whatever). Should Ferrari (sorry - Fiat :) stop making cars ? Should the guy who builds Ferrari's not comment on my comparison (in public) of their car and a Ford ? I would expect to be laughed out of the door... Now back here, a Cisco (4500 maybe) can fulfill your requirements, so can a GRF - but the GRF is not intended to compete at that level. > > Then Ascend don't sell a product that you need, and the GRF just > > happens to do the job, but for too much money. > > Exactly my point. No, your point was "Cisco are better than Ascend." Apples and oranges, just as Matt said. > Obviously it went over your head, but again, it wasn't directed toward > you, so I don't expect you to understand it. Sad. I understand the whole area far too well, and sometimes I wish I sold newspapers. It's far easier. But I guess the advantage is that there are less people "with a clue" in this industry, so competition is easier. > When I send email from my work address, it's work related, therefore I > represent my company. I don't think much of anyone else here can argue > that. That was my point in regards to Matt. If I post from my personal > email address, then I can expect to represent myself. Your view. This is not one that is shared by or considered universal by any measure. Again, if you expect polite, harmless buttering up then call the 800 number. If you want real life opinions and are prepared to argue your viewpoint its technical merits, have fun here. > In most cases, you can't decide this email represents your company and > that one doesn't.
