In my situation, some people are getting BETTER connections and some people
are getting worse connections. Obviously, the people who had x2 modems and
upgraded to v.90 are faster, but others who had K56Flex and upgraded to
v.90 say things are faster. The weird thing, which I posted a message about
earlier, is that some v.34 users are having disconnection problems now! Why
would v.90 affect that?
I know one person who has a Zoom K56Flex modem. He upgraded to v.90 and got
better speeds. However, after a day or two, the modem would not connect
anymore. He downgraded to Flex and was able to connect. He went back up to
v.90 and it has worked again at least so far.
Weird stuff. I blame mostly the phone company, although I don't see how a
change to the 56k protocol would affect v.34 users (that I blame Ascend
for). Personally, I don't care because I use ISDN! Screw analog.
