Ah yes proxy arp - I got bitten by that too.
The problem is that all pipelines default to some really STUPID default
values. Not only is proxy arp enabled, but bridging is also on by default.
If I see any pipeline, the first thing I do is disable proxy arp and
bridging (and RIP, but that is another story) before I attach it to the
network.
What makes matters infinately worse is that the Ascend Pipeline 50
Reference Guide claims that proxy arp is OFF by default (p.2-104) and
bridging too (p.2-16). So any user who installs a pipeline and goes by the
manual will destory both his network and his router!
