(ASCEND) Pipeline Ping Problem?

Hello,

I have a customer that is using a Pipeline 50 to connect to our Max4048.
The pipeline is running 6.1.3.  The customer is having a problem sending
email through their Novell Border manager software.  Novell suspects that
the problem is because the border manager increases the packet size well
over 1500 to transfer attachments.  When trying to ping a site with a packet
larger than 1498 it won't go through.  Any ideas?
