Re: (ASCEND) How Ascend should fix thier software problem
I can second Andy's sentiment. We have 4 different brands of RAS, seeking the
perfect one. It doesn't exist. They all have code problems. Our newest and
non-Ascend box has code on it right now that makes it reboot randomly.
Fortunately, that company actually is going to send out a tech to install the
upgrade for us at no cost (we are talking great service!)
Another of our boxes had new code coming out faster than Ascend and it made
Ascend's worst code look good for a while. Although stable now, we won't buy
another.
And our Cisco box... if I could afford to, I would toss it. Oh, it is stable
enough but it is slow, missing features, and a pain to work with. Unless you
are using Tacacs++ you can't even have it assign a static IP from Radius. grrr.
Ascend's interface for telnet sessions is still the best in the business,
especially for monitoring but even for configuring, once you kind of figure out
its structure, it is easier than trying to remember all the stupid commands that
you only used one other time.
Andy Rooney Question: Has anyone noticed that an awful lot of techs spell
"their" thier?
