(ASCEND) xDSL?

I think I understand the basics of xDSL technologies, but there is much I'd
like to learn. What kind of server would one need to offer xDSL service?
Would an ISP need separate trunks run to offer xDSL service? Any other
insight into xDSL would be appreciated.
