Re: (ASCEND) MRTG + Ascend = the age old questions
We hacked together a perl script that generates the config file each time we
need to run MRTG. First it gets the IF for the default route (the only thing
we need to watch) and then it writes out the config file and spawns a copy on
MRTG. We're only monitoring around 20 routers so it doesn't take long for a
complete run, 30 seconds on a PII-450 running Debian Linux 2.1. it used to
take around 3.5 minutes on one of our Sun Workstations.
