Re: (ASCEND) Frequent Disconnects

Along with telling the customers to upgrade their driver/firmware, we found upgrading to 7.0.4 on our TNT's greatly reduced the stress in our customer support department by eliminating alot of the
HFC/HSP disconnect calls.

Betcha the modems are Win/HSP/HCF/Soft/Shit modems, probably try find the
latest drivers (I don't think they need firmware updates because they are a
software modem).

Other than that tell them that unfortunately they have brought a
troublesome modem, I have seen 4 brand new Dell computers come in and not
one of them connects reliably to our Max4030(6.1.3) and they all had USR
Winmodems which I think is what you will find in the Compaqs.

I have found though that the Dynalink HCF modems (or any HCF modem based on
the Rockwell chipset) with a >200Mhz computer runs like a dream and
connects at speeds >50K and will do so reliably with a good line.(possibly
because most of those winmodems are USR's and a Rockewell based modem
talking to another Rockwell based modem has a better chance of a good
connection?, again I am guessing and if anyone wants to prove me different
than please do :)
