(ASCEND) user name <0:>

Hi
When a customer dials into our ascend max 4000 they get a 
password error and seem to be passing us user name <0:>.
Its a 128k isdn adaptor. The adaptor type we have working with 
other customers. They are typing in correct details but it doesn't 
get passed to us correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to what might be wrong?
