Fwd: RE: (ASCEND) Max 4000 Power Supply
To all who might want to know:
Both the power supplies in the MAX 4000 are manufactured by
Digital Power Corporation
41920 Christy Street
Fremont, California 94538-3158
USA
Phone (510) 657-2635
Fax: (510) 657-6634

The upper (top) supply is model US70-421. I have not been able to find this
exact model, but model US70-401 is a good replacement. The entire US70
family of supplies uses the same chassis, so the unit will fit in the MAX.
The specs for the 421 and the 401 are as follows:
421
---
+5V 7A
+12V 4A
-12V 1A
-5V 2A
401
---
+5V 7A
+12V 4A
-12V 2A
-5V 2A
So, you see, the only difference in the two supplies is that the -12V
source is capable of higher amperage on the 401 than the 421.
The lower (bottom) supply is model US5100-245. I have not had any luck
finding this particular supply in stock anywhere, but you can order them
from a distributor, and they will call Digital Power Corp. who will in turn
make the supplies. There might be a replacement supply for the 5211-245,
but it would require a little work on the wiring harness as the replacement
has screw-down terminals instead of connectors. However, the US150-105
should work just fine. The specs for the two power supplies are as follows:
5100-245
--------
+5V 20A
150-105
-------
+5V 25A
I bought the US70-401 from
Power Plus Technical Distributors

It was $95 plus shipping. I should have it tomorrow. I'll let everyone know
how it works out.
If you go to www.digipwr.com, you can see a list of all Digital Power's
products and an extensive list of distributors broken down by region. I
would just start calling them to see if they had stock on the supply you
are looking for.
To the guy from Europe who responded to the original email, Digital Power
Corp. has a big European distributor:
Gresham Power Electronics
Gresham House
Telford Road, Salisbury
Wiltshire SP2 7PH
phone +44-1722-413-060
fax: +44-1722-413-034
info@greshampower.com

You should be able to order the power supplies from them.
Hope this helps everyone.
