Subject: Crossfire 0.95.6 released.

Crossfire 0.95.6 has been released. There are a lot of bug fixes as well as
some improvements/new features. An abreviated list of changes is at the
end of this file.

Note - the mailing lists for crossfire have changed. This is the last
announcement message that will be sent via crossfire-announce@ifi.uio.no
address. Future announcement messages will be sent through the real-time
address. To get on the subscription list for that, go to:

https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/crossfire-announce
https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/crossfire-list
https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/crossfire-devel

Or you should be able to go to:
http://crossfire.real-time.com/Website_Index/Mailing_Lists/mailing_lists.jhtml

It should be set up shortly to allow subscription to all the lists.

NOTE TO MIRROR SITES: The primary site (ftp.scruz.net) has limited download
bandwidth per day. If this poses a problem, you want a more reliable method,
or you just want a backup method. please drop me a mail message - I have set
up a secondary server off my ADSL link, but being that only has 128 kb
upstream bandwidth and is also used for other interactive purposes, I don't
want to make it available to all.

crossfire-client-0.95.6 is the client (X11) distribution - standard
X11 and gtk interfaces are provided.

crossfire-0.95.6.tar.{gz/bz2} contains the server code with prebuilt
archetype and image files.

crossfire-0.95.6.arch.{gz/bz2} contains the unpacked archetype changes.
This is not needed if you only want to compile the server and play the
game.

crossfire-0.95.6-maps.tgz contains the maps. This is needed with the
server distribution.

No doc archive at this time - I don't believe anything in it should have
changed much.

FOR FIRST TIME USERS: You will only need the appropriate server, map
and client file. You do not need the arch file. If you are a first time
user, you may want the doc file unless you are using a web based player
referance.

If you just want to play the game at some remote server, you need the client
and perhaps some version of the doc file.

If you are looking for a windows/NT client, look at:
            ftp://ftp.ifi.uio.no:/pub/crossfire/incoming (129.240.64.44)
for a file called cfcXXXX.zip (XXXX are numbers representing the version -
get the latest)

Crossfire is avaible on the following ftp sites

Primary:
    ftp://ftp.scruz.net:/users/mwedel/public (165.227.192.254)
    ftp://ftp.ifi.uio.no:/pub/crossfire (129.240.64.44)

*** NOTE *** primary server has changed to pyrsonal, and this will likely
be the primary for quite a while to come.

Secondary:
    ftp://ftp.real-time.com/pub/games/crossfire (206.10.252.12)
    ftp://ftp.cs.city.ac.uk:/pub/games/crossfire/
    ftp://ftp.sunet.se:/pub/unix/games/crossfire (130.238.127.3)
    ftp://ftp.cs.titech.ac.jp:/pub/games/crossfire
    ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/games/roguelike/crossfire/

I uploaded this version to just ftp.scruz.net - it should be on the
other ftp sites in a short time.

Changes:

Note - I only include the more substantial/noticable changes here - in
fact, there are hundreds of bug fixes and including all of them would probably
make this list longer than most people would want to read.

client: Support of png image format, support for sun audio output, improved
keybinding/keycode handling, numerous bugfixes.

maps: Many fixes, with several new maps added There are many
patches/improvements, many the result of changes to the server code.
If you update to the new server, you should also update your maps.

arch: Addition of png images. Many more objects made mergable. Note
that I have removed the 'dev' directory from distribution.

server: Support for supplying png images. Many improvements to
reliability of random map code. It is not an exaggeration when I say
hundreds of bug fixes have been put in place. Many areas of the code
have been cleaned up/redone to improve reliability.
