CF: Needed feature: Server list

Hi

One problem we have is, that it is difficult to find a open server (with
good connect).

Realtime.com have a list, but it is always out of date.

Why you don't set up a "server online" server?

It is simple to build. Perhaps realtime.com will let it run. (they will, i
am sure :).

All what the server have to do is a little "i am here" msg to the "server
online list" server program.
At this point you can submit some special data too (like set flags, , ip of
course and area the servers run.etc.)

All what the server than need to do is to send a ping all 30sec or 1 min to
"server list"
the server. There is no need for a "realtime" list, it can be handled very
smart.

If the "server online list" server get a "i am here" msg, it add the new
server to his list.
If it don't get a ping from it after X min, it delete it.
If it reseve a new "iam here" it had encountered a newstart if the server.

All what you need is to set the list the server generate to a web site.
Done.

I strongly prever this, because i know about massive problems from new
interested people
to find a prober server, specially with a good connect. Not all have the
time and the
skills to set up the unix server for his own. And to play with others is
also very difficult in
this way.

The list server and the server code is very simple so it should be easy to
implement it.
Because all action is fired blind and need no return msg or something, the
whole login
and ping action has no side effect.

Of course you should have a LISTSERVER_MSG_ON flag, where you can toggle
the feature on/off so you can setup your private or test server.
