Cisco console port to serial on pc...

I've got a Cisco Cataylst 2900 XT switch with a console port that
connects to my pc via an RJ45/DB9 serial converter.  This is
physically connected to my computer.  Cisco instructs its users to
connect to this port using "Hyperterminal" in Windoze.  What is the
equivalent in Linux?  Do I use getty?  How?

I tried Minicom, but I didn't get any output.  Where do I start?
