One thing I've done that's worked around booting problems with NT is to stick LILO
on the boot record of the _extended_ partition.  It'll go there, and Linux's fdisk
will let you set that partition to be active.  This allows NT to have it MBR
pristine as far as it's concerned, and it seems to work OK.   No Linux distribution
allows that as an option, but if you run an FDISK /MBR from a DOS floppy then book a
Linux floppy and configure it that way, it works.
