RE: [TCLUG:7538] printing (lpr/lpd?) problems -clarified more

I found that by opening the file in pico, then saving it; it prints fine.
the file goes from 2700 bytes to 2701 bytes; and prints with no problems.

anyone have an idea what's going on? there must be some non-printing
character that jams lpr; but doesn't get readwritten properly when an editor
touches the file. (speaking of which; I tried 'touch <filename>', but it
still causes the problem).
