Locatedb

Okay, I got a fresh copy of locate and re-installed it on one of my
machines.  I re-ran updatedb, and checked the database:
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root      3366230 Dec 28 10:47 locatedb

when I locate something, it still dies.  I strace'd it in hopes of
seeing the problem:

purity:/var/spool/locate# strace locate something
...
read(3, "d.root\0\2omi\0\377erp.c\0\1stea"..., 4096) = 4096
read(3, "ite\0\4.orig\0\372jump\0\0kick\0"..., 4096) = 4096
brk(0x804d000)                          = 0x804d000
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

I'm not real sure what this means...the read()'s are all it looking
through the database.  It dies whether the file exists or not.
