gzip/lib problem

I want to thank Mike and Serge and the rest for your help so far...my system is starting to run really well with Enlightenment and Gnome - I can do sound!! It took me 6 months but I can finally hear sound from Linux!! (Well OK it wasn't my number one priority but still...)

Anyway here's todays question - does anybody have any idea what I should look into here? (I like the part about "grotty") As far as I can tell my libc is up to date and my copy of gzip is the latest one on the Redhat site...should I be thinking about upgrading my kernel at least to 2.0.36? It's 2.0.31 now...
