odd rc5 speeds

Oddest thing: After getting my computer working again and rebooting with
the new kernel (2.2.1 from 2.2.0pre6) I started rc5 and went away.

Two days later I look at the kkeys/sec and they progressively get faster:

Started at 12kkeys/sec, then 40, 55, 90, 130, and it slowly creaps up to
(250, 255, 260, 265, ... ,285, 290). My last key was 296. 

I used to get around 380 on my k6-2-300, but I'm thinking at at this rate
in a few days I'll surpass that!

This is so odd! (anyone know why this is?)
