SuSE 6.1 Multiple NICs

Hey Here goes...

I'm runnning DHCP and DSL

[eth0]
Got two NICs, one PCI 3com 905b
this uses DHCP is retrieves an IP Address from my ISP

[eth1]
and one ISA Linksys Ethercard and uses a private IP address

I can get DHCP to assign an IP address to the 3Com card, but the second NIC
won't come up with the private IP address.

If I type in there:
ifconfig eth1 192.168.10.1
then it comes up, and I'm able to use this box as a gateway to the internet
for my other PCs

If I disable DHCP both cards come up. I tried editing /etc/boot.local to
define eth1 (as in the above command) but the !@#!@#! card still won't come
up.

I formerly did this under RH5.1 and this worked slick using rc.local as the
script that brought up the card and gave the firewall definitions. Under
SuSE I'm SOL :(

Help I've fallen and I can't get my gateway up !

If I'm missing a HOWTO tell me where it is before you tell me I'm dum.
