Try running this command
alias ls='ls --color=tty -F'
the --color=tty enables color, and the -F adds '/' to directories, '@'
to symlinks, and '*' to executables (plus a few other things, I think..)
Anyway, you can add that line to your ~/.bashrc or some other file that
gets read when you open a terminal..
