Actually, that's a perfect analogy. So many people I've told Linux about
wind up the conversation with "so how will this sustain itself over the
long term since no one's getting paid?". I haven't had a good answer for
them until now. They think it's strange to give away something you could
charge for.
But now I've got a useful example where this occurs quite regularly in
life to make it seem less strange.

The most interesting thing in this article was this quote: "We see the

That's the perfect analogy for Linux: a pot-luck. You get tons of yummy
free stuff...but it can be embarrasing if you don't contribute something
too.
Now if only my C hacking was as good as my guacamole...
