Re: [TCLUG:6148] Linux on laptops

I own a Fujitsu 635T (one of the Lifebook series)
and have virtually no troubles in the 2 years I have
owned it. Last November, I finally took Windws off
and went entirely with Linux (RH 5.2: 2.0.36 kernel).
This laptop is my only computer. I no longer have
or need a desktop and haven't since I got this
laptop. Not everybody will have the same requirements,
but this illustrates how far good laptops have come.

However, I doubt that all Lifebook series laptops are
completely supported by Linux. I was very careful
about standard chipset usage and checked with Fujitsu
before buying. The same can be said for any brand,
I am sure.

By researching a laptop against what Linux supports,
you should be able to find several different models/brands
of laptop that work well with Linux. There are laptop
sites that provide this type of information on the net.
