I bought a Sony VAIO 505TS a few months ago. It's really light and
portable and it it was pretty cheap. Coming from a 9 pounder, this 2.9lb
.9" wonder runs linux almost as if it was made for it. Everything works
pretty well on a standard linux distribution (except the USB, IR and
FireWire ports (but it's not like I'm currently using them anyway). Best
of all, it was really affordable (I got mine for $1699). I also picked up
a 10/100 PCMCIA ethernet adapter for $69. I passed on the CD-ROM since
all I really needed was the NIC to do an installation. Okay, enough with
