You might be thinking of *Unix for the Impatient*, which is a great book.
*Unix-Haters' Handbook* is a protracted rant about why Unix people are
'weenies' and why USENET is silly and why everyone should be using ITS or
MULTICS now. *Haters'* is in no way a manual -- there's no useful
information in it. :P
