DHCP/BOOTP and NeXT

All this talk about SGIs has inspired me to take another shot at getting my
pet non-Intel system to run - an old NeXT cube that I picked up at a hamfest
(a previous instance of the one that's coming up next week, actually) a while
back.

Trying to start it always got me a complaint about not being able to find a
BOOTP server, so I set up DHCP on a Linux box, ran it in debug mode, turned
on the cube and... got a series of errors.

BOOTREQUEST from 00:00:0f:00:c0:a0 via eth0 (non-rfc1048)
No applicable record for BOOTP host 00:00:0f:00:c0:a0 via eth0

repeated 5 times, then the NeXT gave up and went to the ROM monitor.

Any suggestions from the DCHP-wise? Or is there anyone out there who knows
much about NeXT cubes?
