Just a suggestion:
If you're concerned about others getting unauthorized access to the list, set
it up so that the SQL server can upload the files to a directory where it only
has write permission. Then, you could use a simple shell script via cron that
has read/write access to the same directory. This way, you're not compromising
using root...
