Re: [TCLUG:13671] all netscape close on one
I've been experiencing the same problem with my own netscape packages
under mdk 7.0. It exits with the classic Netscape "bus error" and I can
only assume that it's got something to do with Mandrake's
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 (part of the libstdc++-2.95.2 package) and/or
Mandrake's glibc-2.1.2 package. If 99% of mdk's software wasn't dependant
on those packages, I'd back off to an earlier version. See the output
below:
[shaft@groove shaft]$ netscape-communicator
[1]+ Bus error netscape
[shaft@groove shaft]$ ldd /usr/lib/netscape/netscape-communicator
libBrokenLocale.so.1 => /lib/libBrokenLocale.so.1 (0x4001a000)
libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 (0x4001c000)
libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x4006e000)
libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x40078000)
libXmu.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6 (0x40091000)
libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0x400a4000)
libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x400b4000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x400c1000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40173000)
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 => /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2(0x40177000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x401c7000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x401e5000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)
[shaft@groove shaft]$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2
libstdc++-2.95.2-3mdk
[shaft@groove shaft]$ rpm -qf /lib/libc.so.6
glibc-2.1.2-9mdk
The problem is intermittent, too. Sometimes it'll happen, sometimes it
won't.
