nfs locking with a solaris server

There was a thread a while back about nfs file locking on a solaris nfs
mounted filesystem. Was there and solution to that? I am having problems
running mutt with a solaris nfs mail spool directory. It always open
'read-only' and I get this message in my /var/log/messages:
Jan  7 09:49:07 linus kernel: lockd: failed to monitor 192.168.0.10

It this a mutt problem, or a linux<->solaris, nfsv2<->nfsv3 problem.
