I just got one recently, and they are very easy to setup. The drive works
as a standard tape drive under UNIX. I can not vouch for reliability, tho,
I just got it.

Best part: 33/66GB tapes cost $80, the drive costs $900-$1200 depending on
internal / external, kit / no kit. You can get SCSI-II or LVD (get LVD,
it works with SCSI-II, UltraSCSI, etc.). The 6MB/sec transfer rate is
pretty accurate. Supposedly the tapes survive being frozen, dunked in
boiling coffee. I think you can use vanilla 8mm tapes, but I have not tried
that yet.
