Pretty good, the 3D speed is not quite as good as I was hoping for, but
there could be any number of reasons for that (my processor speed being
one). However, the 3D is definitely better than my TNT2. I think 2D
speed is actually faster than the TNT2 (hard to imagine.. My TNT2
seemed blazing in 2D when I first put it in). I had to do a fair bit of
recompiling to get everything working properly (I had Mesa 3.0
libraries, when glx needed 3.1 or 3.2, plus some other problems, such as
xscreensaver being linked to 'libGL.so.3', when Mesa 3.1 and glx will
produce libraries named libGL.so.1...)
I was, however, disappointed to find out that the TV-out capability of
this card can't really be used (I think there's some way to flash the
BIOS to force the second head to always do TV-out, but I'm not sure if I
want to do that). I guess MacroVision's copy protection scheme would be
in danger of being compromised if Matrox released the specs on that part
(which would be a valid argument if the scheme wasn't well-known
already..). Also, as one would expect, DVD support doesn't appear to be
alive (but I don't have a DVD drive or any DVDs anyway..)
