Last time Ascend visited NZ - got a brief chance to talk to Jeff Wabick -
as I understand it, the original designer of the GRF. He's a very smart
guy - he's the only person in the industry so far I've talked to who is
able to back up assertions like "our box is faster" based on demonstrably
sound technical arguments.

Nonetheless - Ascend came over pushing OC-3 et all - "you need to be
planning for this now."

Thing is, NZ is on the end of a very long, narrow piece of cable. 
Satillite technology is being hyped up here - but, there's presently no
need to go screaming across town at 155Mb/s....
