I don't think they use STAC at all on NT. The protocol is not CCP either.
I suspect both the protocol they use and the compression method are 
MS proprietary....until NT5.0 (rumor has it).

Aha, yes I remember this one too...didn't effect everyone either - me for
example!

HDLC bug was fixed in 5.0Ap33...

Why ? I was able to connect in much less time - I disabled the compression
option in WIN95 DUN - relying instead on modem compression....
