I don't consider bug fixes to be permutations :-) :-)

Actually, I consider it "cute", given that this kind of architecture was
something that I wrote about oh, what was it now - four years back?

Yeah, I think it was somewhere around that time.  1993ish and change, and
actually, that was the second go-around - the first was the float of the
idea to the Incredibly Bad Machine people (:-) two years prior to THAT
because I expected to need that kind of switching capability at a place 
that I was at the time employed (and over which they had a strangle-hold
supply contract).
