Re: (ASCEND) K56..

Andy, I had the same problem with the Channelized T1s with both
AMI/SF and B8ZS/ESF. The Telco is using Northern Telecom DMS100
switches. The only way I could get anything at all higher than
33.6 was to replace the T1s with PRI circuits. I now get as
good as 48000 and have tried several K56Flex modems. I had
an Ascend rep fly in and help verify the solution. Now, why
this is so I do not know. One of the other great features with
the local ISDN PRI service is that I now get the Caller ID
feature which is getting rather important with scammers out there.

I can tell you that I went through ever possible combination of
settings with my 4004s (V5.0Ap33) and could not come up with
anything that would get me the greater speed. One of the best
things to use is the "modemdiag" debug command to see what your
line quality is to your customers. Even still, there is something
greatly different, besides the obvious, between the trunk side T1s
and ISDN PRIs. Another issue for you will be cost and availability
of ISDN. Since the Telco could not provide us with 56Kb speeds
on the Trunk Side T1s, they gave us a break on the PRIs, so the
cost was not an issue. I have this funny feeling that the Maxen
really like ISDN and not trunk side T1s.
