Re: (ASCEND) Ascend RADIUS - what now? (fwd)

Once upon a time Jason Nealis shaped the electrons to say...
>Ascend has always stated they are always standard compliant, I'm sure they
>will move up their bogus attributes, In my mind they don't have a choice if
>they want to continually make the statement about standard compliant.

Trouble is the RADIUS Attribute space is 1-255. IETF has 1-86 (with a few
small skips) and Ascend has 87-255 (with a few smal skips).

I think this is the only reason they finally added VSA support to TAOS -
they waited until they were backed into a corner. They need to be more
aggressive about migrating things to VSAs.

Shiva. of all vendors, has had a wonderful system for faking out VSAs.
Before VSA support, or if you're stuck with a server that still doesn't
support them, you would pick one attribute value. You'd configure that
value on the Shiva, and then add it to the dictionary on the server. And
it worked like the standard Attribute 26 for VSAs. You encode what you want
to send as strings within this attribute.

If the free Ascend server supports VSAs, then I missed it. They really
need to get that out there so their users can migrate before the last minute.

Of course, it also means having to run TAOS 7.x - which has been an issue
for some users.
