In the US ... caller ID (also called a lot
of other things) cost will vary significantly ...
depending on the local tariffs and which
telephone company you are dealing with.
In Massachusetts, our MAXen are all connected
to MCI WorldCom telephone service (which is
what we call a CLEC, or competitive local
exchange carrier). All of our circuits are
ISDN PRI's (which is 23 channels for "data"
and the 24th is used for control info).
The calling number info is provided as part
of the basic monthly cost, i.e., not billed
separately on a call basis as you indicate.
FYI: here a local home user pays approximately
$5.00 US per month (additional) for basic
caller id info (just number), or $6.00 US/month
for caller ID with name.

Bob McCormick
