(ASCEND) Telco not able to get wink-start?



Hi

I am setting up a new dial-up service using SW Bell.  I had originally
requested T1/PRI but was later informed that the only T1 service I would be
able to get is something they call a 'digital loop' T1.  Now I have moved a
Max 4000 over to the new location and I believe I have it configured
correctly to accept their digital loop service.

The technician at the CO is telling me that they are unable to get the
wink-start that they need from my Max.  What I hear when I dial in is a fast
busy.  The Max is recognizing the incoming call, but drops it almost
immediately and is not giving me any indication of a reason that I can see.

All of my previous experience in setting up Maxens has been on Sprint T1s.
I have never had to tell Sprint how many digits (of the incoming phone call)
I am looking for, but the SW Bell tech is asking for this information.  This
line is to be used for only incoming calls.

I am using only a local profile on the Max for authentication, to simplify
troubleshooting.

I have the following settings in the Line configuration:

Sig Mode=Inband
Rob Ctl=Wink-Start
Framing Mode=ESF
Encoding=B8ZS
