(ASCEND) users showing up as only IP's

I am configuring a MAX 4000 again as we moved it to a new location. I
let it delete the config when I upgraded the firmware so I am starting
from scratch.

Everything seems to be fine except that in all of our other maxes (and
also this one before erasing it's config) the users show up in the
active sessions and the message log as their username when they
connect however on this one when they connect they show up as their IP
address. I am not sure what I missed. Thanks for any help.
