Huelbe,

This isn't a basic question at all, it's a fairly serious flaw in the design
of the Ascend software.

There is no default dialin user.  Hopefully, you've got a local profile set
up that will authenticate you and let you do this.  If not, you've got some
driving to do :)

If you are able to dial up to the max and get logged into the terminal
server, type "local" to get to the menus.
