* This is a "classic". If you didn't have the user "admin" set to
"allow-passwords = yes", and you saved a configuration (e.g. to a tftp host),
then your password (after restoring the configuration) is all "*"'s. Yup, that's
right ... asterisks (the number of asterisks equal to the number of characters
in your original password when you saved the configuration).
