(ASCEND) route problem?
Anyone with a clue on this one?
Have a Max TNT, tracerouting to this TNT from behind it (from of its
modem connections, ethernet connections, anything downstream in general)
can't seem to find it right away... instead, it wants to go out to the
TNT's upstream router to figure out where it should go.
eg.
# From behind a local eth interface on the TNT
[cstorm@neo cstorm]$ traceroute tnt3
traceroute to tnt3.mtco.com (208.155.39.33), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
1 tnt3-mtco-gw (207.179.201.65) 2.274 ms 2.091 ms 1.896 ms
2 tnt2 (206.102.132.2) 13.569 ms 25.034 ms 19.066 ms
3 tnt3-mtco-gw (207.179.201.65) 20.939 ms 9.623 ms 8.801 ms
# From behind a nailed t1 interface (through a pipeline 130)
dslmax1%traceroute tnt3
traceroute to tnt3 (208.155.39.33), 30 hops max, 0 byte packets
1 dslmax1-gw.mtco.com (207.179.210.1) 0 ms 0 ms 0 ms
2 tnt3.mtco.com (208.155.39.33) 30 ms 20 ms 20 ms
3 tnt2.mtco.com (206.102.132.2) 30 ms 50 ms 30 ms
4 tnt3.mtco.com (208.155.39.33) 40 ms 50 ms 30 ms
When tracerouting to the machine from upstream (our "tnt2" machine) this
doesn't happen...
leviathan:~# traceroute tnt3
traceroute to tnt3.mtco.com (208.155.39.33), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 lev-grf-tu1 (208.155.33.33) 1 ms 0 ms 2 ms
2 tnt2 (206.102.132.2) 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms
3 tnt3 (208.155.39.33) 38 ms 35 ms 63 ms
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
cs
