Are you looking for Java reference books or a good book that would walk
someone through learning Java?

For learning Java I had used 'Thinking in Java' two years in a class I
taught at Dakota County Technical County. For the class I am teaching now
(in house), I was recommending 'Core Java' and 'Java in a Nutshell'. The
problem with recommending books for learning is what book worked for one
person does not work for another.

If you looking for reference books, I prefer to purchase books that are
focused on particular area. Some examples include:

- The Java Programming Language, Second Edition
- Java I/O
- Java Threads
- JDBC Reference
- Java Networking
