Cable Modems, DSL,
Greetings!
I'm looking for any high speed Internet access without going to a one-way
cable modem setup.
Apparently the house I'm in is on a digital loop from the CO, such that
US W[e,or]st will not allow me to be set up for DSL.
What other options do I have (in Eagan) for two-way high speed (128KBps
minimum) access? MediaOne will only provide for a one-way cable modem.
Have any others done any research in this area yet? I've tried search
engines, local tech links and pages, and haven't found any possible
solution yet. Am I relegated to turtle speed access just because I'm
on a digital loop?
My current dial-up speeds from my 56K modems are only 26,400 - 33,300
Bps. I fear these reduced speeds are due to the A/D and D/A conversions
to and from the digital loop.
