Re: [TCLUG:7745] Cable Modems, DSL,

I live in Eden Prairie and am on a Digital Loop.I have had an order placed
with Onvoy for a couple of months. It started out with them confirming 768
IDSL in spite of my mentioning the digital loop. Apparently they don't call
USWest megabit and check the order out in advance. I'm close enough to the
CO. The digital loop is the problem. A month passed, and just as the date
for install was nearing they 'discovered' the digital loop. This resulted in
an additional $10 per month and speed reduced to 144.

I'm going ahead, because this appears to be the only horse in the glue
factory at the moment. As of now, USWest is scheduled to condition the line
on August 25 with Covad coming to install on Sept 3. If this schedule slides
again I'm going to 'GO TELCO' (not postal) <g>. I think that the primary
problem is USWest. Onvoy does seem a bit disorganized in their sales/install
area, even though their support people are definitely superior to USWest.
