GGI is more ment for direct framebuffer control, bypassing any GUI
toolkits...

Linux really needs video drivers integrated into the kernel. Having
Xfree running root, banging hardware from userland is Not The Right
Thing. The framebuffer support is a good start, but realistically it's
not going to replace Xfree's current setup until it supports full*
acceleration functions on as many cards, as well as 3D support...
This would also mean apps can nab a virtual console and use it
graphically, without having to deal with X...
