RE: [TCLUG:6331] Re: FW: [TCLUG:6307] thanks

On all the lists I subscribe to their are messages sent using html
formatting. Generally someone points out to the person that their client is
setup to use html formatting and is a pain to read or they're ignored. This
is the first time I've seen suggestions of burning them at the stake.

As far as using Outlook, many people must deal with global address lists,
scheduling or company folders held on their Exchange or GroupWise server -
or need more than the simple address books provided by most clients. 99% of
reviews and over two thirds of developers still find the Linux desktop and
applications lacking. If it was a done deal we'd all be on a MS mailing list
trying to find a way to overthrow the Red Hat monopoly.

In the meantime many will continue to use Windows and Windows apps rather
than sacrifice the functionality. (imagined or real)

You may be right, my wish for a positive instead of negative list may be
wishful thinking, but I have seen too many references in the trade
magazines to "Linux zealots" or similar references. The MS bashing
makes us sound like the Apple MacIntosh bigots of years past. "The Mac
is the only computer everything else is junk." That kind of attitude
lowers our credibility. The fact that Microsoft has had to take notice
of Linux shows we have something. Do we really need to stoop to the
name calling level? Aren't we better than that?
