In the file /etc/X11/XF86Config (sometimes it's /etc/XF86Config), there should
be a couple of lines that look like

	Modes	"640x480" "800x600" "1024x768" "1152x968"

There are a couple of different ones -- they are there for different bit depths
and video cards.  What you have to do to get X to start up at that resolution is
to merely move the resolution you want to the front of the line:

	Modes	"1152x968" "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768"
