Re: [TCLUG:4352] Installing new perl.

I just thought I should tell you that I was having lots of problems with
various programs after upgrading to glibc-2.1-0.990219.i386 (using rpm -Uvh
glibc-2.1-0.990219.i386) so what I ended up doing was uninstalling
glibc-2.1, installing glibc-2.0.7 and the running "rpm -ivh
glibc-2.1-0.990219.i386" so now I have both versions installed and my
system seems quite happy with that.

I've found that I often need to upgrade to the newest versions of programs.
For instance this weekend I discovered that ldd wasn't working so I
installed the newest version of bunutils from my favorite Rawhide
repository. It might actually be easier to just *every* Rawhide rpm to
save time but I've been doing it piecemeal.

One thing that I'm not sure of - if you're using a lot of newer apps on a
webserver they might be less secure and less stable than older more
well-tested versions.
