Re: [TCLUG:4944] Re: Linux/Wimp95...
I have had numerous problems with Win98 but I think that my
ATI-ALL-IN-BLUNDER card is flaky. ATI even admits there are issues but have
yet to fix them, what ya gonna do?!?! Anyway if you are going to re-install
from scratch I would follow my FOOL (ha ha) proof method below.
If you want a really simple install (and your HD is larger than 8 GIG) do
the following :
1) Remove all existing partitions
2) Install Linux (whatever dist.)
3) Make sure you create a linux boot disk (you will need this later)
4) Install lilo (optional)
5) make sure everything works . . .
6) Create DOS (FAT/FAT32) Partition and FORMAT it (use whatever you like for
this)
7) Install Winbloze 95/98
8) Reboot (Win95/98) will start by default
9) Reboot machine with Linux boot disk
10) re-Install LILO with new FAT/FAT32 partition included (follow man pages,
etc)
11) Reboot and Play StarCraft on Winbloze
12) Reboot and Spend many hours wanking on Linux (WINE Anyone???)
Hope this helps
Paul.
