block device

Hey everyone,

I'm getting this message when I try to mount my CD-ROM.

[wilson@galileo wilson]$ mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/cdrom as a block device
       (maybe `insmod driver'?)

This happened after I recompiled a new kernel with SCSI emulation. (I need
it to use my IDE HP 8100 CD-RW drive.) Relevent parts of /etc/fstab look
like:

/dev/cdrom	/mnt/cdrom	iso9660	 user,exec,dev,suid,ro,noauto 0 0
/dev/cdrw	/mnt/cdrw	iso9660	 user,exec,dev,suid,rw 	      1 1

I moved the /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrw sym links to point to my new
"phantom" SCSI devices.

[wilson@galileo wilson]$ ls -l /dev/cdrom /dev/cdrw
   0 lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root   9 May 20 10:17 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/scd0
   0 lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root   9 May 20 10:18 /dev/cdrw -> /dev/scd1

Here's what /proc/scsi/scsi looks like:

[wilson@galileo wilson]$ cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: SONY     Model: CD-ROM CDU701    Rev: 1.0f
  Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00
  Vendor: HP       Model: CD-Writer+ 8100  Rev: 1.0f
  Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks.

-Tim
